Thanks to everyone who made December's potluck and Ornament Exchange a success. It was a great night to visit with friends and get into the spirit of the holiday!

It may not look like your pattern pieces will fit on your fabric but they do, we promise. Please reference the image below for the recommended pattern placement for your fabric
We ended the fall of 2015 with a couple of workshops. The first was a presentation by Amy Cousins on blackwork. Each member was provided with Aida, thread and a pattern as a practice exercise. The other was a demonstration of different ornament finishing techniques led by Kim Mather, Carol Arsenault and Amy Cousins. Members worked on their own finished ornament adding ribbon and beading.
We started the new year with a presentation by Meagan Mather on her four-year journey as an art student at the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design. To earn her BA degree, she had to design and produce artwork in a variety of mediums such as weaving, book binding, photography, thread dyeing, stitching and printing. Her outstanding talent and creativity were well displayed in the pieces of one-of-a-kind art she brought to show us. We wish her much success in her chosen field. In February, Jeanette Craig, Sue Green and Shelley Miehe introduced the art of thread painting. After a video presentation on the proper technique, each member was provided with the necessary supplies to try their hand at thread painting a leaf. Many reference books were available, along with a display of completed works brought in by members. |
